Nine nights.
Nine forms of the goddess. Nine colours. Nine reasons to gather in a courtyard and dance until the drums stop.
One night, one colour.
Each night belongs to a form of the goddess and carries her colour. Wear it. Dance it. Notice how the music sits a little differently.

See the intensiveA few notes for your first night.
Small things that make the first Navratri feel like the tenth.
-
Wear the fabric.
Chaniya-choli or kediyu if you have them — the extra swing is part of the dance. If not, wear anything you can spin in.
-
Come a little hungry.
There is always food. There is also always more food. This is a rule, not a suggestion.
-
Don't try to keep up on day one.
The circle waits. Day three you'll surprise yourself. Day seven you'll be teaching someone else the turn.
-
Bring water. Nine nights is nine nights.
Bottle in a bag by the wall. The dancing is longer than it looks, and the drum will keep going.
